Former Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal has taken over as the Director General of the Central Paramilitary Force, Sashastra Seema Bal(SSB).
He tooks charge as Director General of SSB on Wednesday.
The post of the Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) was lying vacant since October 31 when the earlier incumbent M.V. Krishna Rao had retired.
Y.S.Dadwal handed over his earlier charge of Delhi Police Commissioner to IPS Officer Brijesh Kumar Gupta – IPS (AGMUT-1975).
Senior SSB officers briefed Y.S.Dadwal about the SSB’s history and duities through a powerpoint presentation.
The presentation also informed about the SSB’s deployment, formations and various units across the country was also presented to the new chief at the headquaters in Delhi.
On his new responsibility, Dadwal said earlier that he will have to “study first” and only then he could give comments on his assignment.
Y.S.Dadwal, a 1974 batch IPS officer, had performed his duties as Delhi Police Commissioner for over three years during which he was credited for the foolproof security arrangments during the Commonwealth Games in the National Capital.
The SSB guards 1,751 kilometres of Indo-Nepal border and 699 Kilometres of Indo-Bhutan border.
Y.S.Dadwal is the 11th Director General of SSB, which comprises about 50,000 personnel.
