Recruitment of Constable (GD)- Male in BSF
1. Applications are invited from Indian male candidates belonging to all States and UTs for the post of Constable (GD) in BSF on temporary basis likely to be the permanent in the pay scale of Rs.5200-20,200(PB-I) + Grade pay of Rs.2000/- per month plus usual and admissible allowances to Central Govt. employees from time to time. The post has all India liability and selected candidates can be posted any where in India and even abroad.
2. The following vacancies have been allotted to each state and UT. OMR based application forms will be sold at all district HQ Post offices from 4th Oct 2010 to 23rd Oct 2010.
3. All applications irrespective of State/UT or Recruiting Agency Of BSF are to be forwarded to the following address only:-
The categoty wise allotted vacancies to each State/UT and the designated recruiting agency of BSF with address are given against each. Candidature of candidates will be considered against the vacancies of their State/UT of Domicile only.

3. Eligibility condition for the post of Constable (GD):-
(a) Age: Between 18 to 23 years as on 01.08.2010. Upper Age limit is relaxable by 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
(b) Education qualifications: Matriculation or X Passed
4. Physical Standards:-
(b) Chest: Unexpanded – 80cms and Expanded – 85 cms
(c) Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per Medical Standards.
(i) The minimum in height may be relaxed to 165cms and chest unexpanded 78cms and expanded to 83cms in respect of candidates falling in the category of Garhwalies, Kumaonese, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas and candidates belonging to the state of Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and Leh and Ladakh regions of J&K.
(ii) The minimum standardin height may be relaxed to 162.5cms and chest Unexpanded to 76cms and Expanded to 81 cms in respect of all candidates belonging to ST/Adivasis or Tribals Including Mizos and Nagas of all States/UTs.
5. Medical Standards:-
Eye Sight, the minimum distance vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 both eyes without glasses. The Candidates must not have knock knee, Flat foot, and varicose vein or squint in eyes and they should possess high colour vision. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interface with the efficient performance of the duties.
6.Recruitment Process viz Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Written Test as under :
(a) Candidates whose applications are found to be in order will be asked to go through the height bar and thereby, candidates with lesser height will get eliminated.
(b) Those candidates who qualify the height test will be subjected to 5 Kms race to be completed within 24 Minutes.
(c) Thumb impression or any specific identifying mark of candidates who qualify in the race will be taken for identification.
(d) Testimonials of the candidates will be checked after the identification process and only eligible candidates will go to the next step.
(e) Candidates who are found eligible on screening of testimonials will be screened first for height, chest and weight measurements, by a board before sending them for PET.
(f) The candidates who clear PST, will be required to undergo Physical Efficiency Test i.e.11 Feet Long Jump (3 chances to be given) & 3½ Feet High Jump (3 chances to be given).
(g) Physical Efficiency Test will be only qualifying in nature and it will not carry any marks.
(h) The candidates who qualify on the PETs will be required to appear in a Written Test.
(i) The written test will consist of OMR based objective type multiple choice questions to be answered using a black pen. The question paper will consist of 100 questions of 100 marks to be attempted in 2 hours.
(j) The question paper will be set to assess the General Awareness/General Knowledge, Knowledge of Elementary Mathematics, analytical aptitude and ability of Observe and Distinguish patterns and to test the basic knowledge of the candidates in English/Hindi. The questions will be set both in Hindi and English. The papers can be answered either in Hindi or in English.
(k) Candidates will be required to answered in OMR sheet which should be signed both by the Candidate and the Invigilator.
(l) The candidates will be allowed to take carbon copy of the answer sheet. Answer key to the question paper will be posted on the BSF website and display on the notice board after the written test is completed.
(m) Medical Examination as per BSF Medical Manual.
7. How to apply:
(i) Application form will be available in the form of a booklet identified by a Booklet Form Number in all District Head Quarters Post Offices of the country. The cost of the application booklet will be Rs.40/-. The booklet contains detailed instructions for filling up the application form in OMR format including a model question paper for practice and familiarization.
(ii) In addition, General and OBC candidates are required to deposit a sum of Rs.50/- (Rupees Fifty Only) as application fee through Postal Oredr/DD in favour of D.D.O. FHQ. BSF, payable at SBI, CGO Complex, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi (Code-7837). Postal Order/DD receipt number and date be mentioned in the prescribed column of the OMR application form and sent alongwith OMR application form. SC/ST candidate and Ex-Servicemen will not be required to give the application fee.
(iii) The OMR application form duly completed in all respect as per the instructions contained in the Booklet alongwith Postal Order/DD should be sent to :-

(iv) The filled application form should reach the above address on or before 30 days from the date of publications of this advertisement in the Employment News.
(v) No testimonials are required to be attached with the application form by the candidates.
(vi) Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected and no correspondence on this will be entertained.
(vii) Admit cards with Roll Number and general instructions for appearing for the test will be issued 15 days prior to the date of test to the eligible candidates. They will be called to appear for the same to a place preferably within their home state for which no TA/DA is admissible.
